  • Volunteer for us

A little time makes a BIG difference!

We have an amazing network of volunteers and supporters and we couldn’t support so many people affected by cancer without them.

We’re on the look-out for friendly volunteers to assist us with everything from fundraising to office admin, events support to marketing, tea-making to gardening! In return you’ll get the chance to make a difference to your community, have fun and make new friends.

If you would like to join our volunteering team please get in touch for a chat. Telephone 0114 278 4600, or email us  info@cavcare.org.uk

    Pro-bono support

As a charity we have limited funds and we like to spend as much of them as possible on supporting local people. We don’t have much to spare for other things – which is why we’re incredibly grateful to receive pro-bono support from talented individuals and businesses. This includes all sorts – from digital support such as web design, copywriting and graphic design, to skilled labour such as electrical work and putting up shelves!

If you have a skill you would like to offer to Cavendish, even if it’s just an hour or a day of your time, we would love to hear from you. We are always grateful for any pro-bono support, and would be proud to shout about your business to say thank you! To find out more or have a chat, fill out the volunteer application form, give us a call on 0114 278 4600, or email hello@cavcare.org.uk.

    Meet Dave…

Dave Townrow, 74, has been volunteering with us since 2017 and is widely known as the ‘King of Collection Tins’. As well as managing our collection tins, which you’ll see in venues all over Sheffield, Dave also assists our office team with admin and helps at a variety of fundraising events.

Dave took early retirement from his sales job at age 60 and since then has turned to volunteering to keep busy. He also volunteers at Paces, another local charity. When he’s not stuffing envelopes or marshalling marathon runners for us, Dave can be found supporting his beloved Sheffield United or attending live music gigs.

“Volunteering gives you a reason to get out of bed every day,” said Dave. “I love the variety – one day I’m visiting shops in town to collect the tins and the next I’m giving curling a go at an ice rink with the fundraising team.”

“I would recommend volunteering to anyone, from all walks of life. Its a great way to spend your time knowing that you’ve helped to improve someone’s life in some way.”
